Questions people ask
Will I get the job?
The interview went well, or you think it did. They said they would be in touch. Now every unknown number on your phone makes your stomach drop.
Job questions suit horary. The outcome is clear: an offer comes or it does not. A chart cast for the moment you sincerely ask can show which way it is leaning, and often roughly when.
Which planets to look at
You are the ruler of the first house, plus the Moon as your co-significator.
The job is the tenth house. Lilly gives the tenth to office, preferment and trade, and the people who hand those out. So the ruler of the tenth stands for both the position and the employer deciding on it.
If your question is about pay rather than the role itself, look at the second house as well. That is your own money.
Signs the offer is coming
Your ruler and the tenth ruler apply to each other. This is the main testimony. Two planets moving toward an aspect means two things coming together. The closer the aspect, the sooner it happens.
Reception. If the tenth ruler sits in a sign your planet rules, the employer wants you. Reception can carry a hard aspect too: a square with reception often reads as "yes, after some back and forth."
The Moon's next aspect is to the tenth ruler. The Moon brings news. If the next thing she touches is the employer, word comes from their side.
Your planet is in the tenth house. You are already placed in the matter. Lilly counts this as a strong sign.
Signs it is delayed or not coming
A separating aspect. The two planets have already met and are moving apart. The chance has passed, or the process has closed without you.
Saturn afflicts the tenth ruler. Saturn slows things down. In job charts this is often "yes, but much later than you hoped": a long approval chain, a frozen budget, a start date that keeps moving.
Prohibition. Another planet perfects an aspect with the tenth ruler before yours does. Someone gets there first. In hiring questions this is often read as another candidate.
The Moon is void of course. She makes no more aspects before leaving her sign. The tradition reads this as "nothing will come of it."
Timing
Once the chart leans yes, the next question is always when. Count the degrees left until the aspect completes and turn them into units of time. Cardinal signs and angular houses speed things up; fixed signs and cadent houses slow them down. In job questions this usually lands in days or weeks.
How to ask it
Ask about one job at a time. "Will I get the job at the company I interviewed with on Tuesday?" is a good question. "Will I get one of these three jobs?" is not, because the chart cannot tell the three apart.
Ask only once. If you do not like the answer and ask again tomorrow, the second chart is not reliable. If you want timing, that is a separate question. More on this in how to ask a horary question.
Questions that work well
- Will I get an offer from this company this month?
- Will they call me back after the interview?
- Will my raise be approved?
- If I quit, will I find a new job soon?
Each has a clear outcome. That is the kind of question a chart answers best.
Common questions
Should I use the sixth house instead of the tenth?
The sixth house is the work you do day to day and, in old texts, servants and employees. When you ask whether you will get a position, most traditional astrologers read the tenth, because the question is about being given an office. If your question is about your daily tasks or your colleagues, the sixth is the place to look.
Can the chart tell me if I should take the offer?
Not directly. Horary shows the likely outcome, not what you should want. You can ask a new question about the job itself, for example whether you will be happy there, and read it separately.
Can I ask about a job I have not applied for yet?
Yes, but frame it around something real: "If I apply to this company, will they hire me?" A concrete situation gives the chart something to answer.
Ask your question and cast the chart, or read what horary astrology is first. In the Horary app your first question is free, and you can ask a related follow-up on the same chart.
